Our Founding and Recognition

ADI University opened its doors to the public in 2019, at a profoundly challenging moment in Cameroon’s history. Amid intense conflict in the country’s two Anglophone regions, calls for school closures and boycotts disrupted access to education for thousands of learners, including those pursuing higher education. At a time when comparatively few institutions offered instruction in English, ADI University was established to help sustain academic opportunity, continuity, and hope.

Shortly after commencing operations, ADI University initiated its institutional accreditation process with Cameroon’s Ministry of Higher Education (MINESUP), the governmental authority responsible for the evaluation, validation, authorization, and oversight of higher-education institutions in the country.

Following three official campus inspection visits, ministry officials conducted a comprehensive review of the University’s academic curriculum, institutional documentation, and educational framework. The evaluation found ADI University’s programmes and academic standards to reflect a modern, rigorous curriculum aligned with United States educational benchmarks.

Consequently, in accordance with the laws governing the establishment of higher-learning institutions in Cameroon, the Ministry of Higher Education issued Ministerial Order No. 21-00260/L/MINESUP/SG/DDES/SD-ESUP/SDA/NA on 14 January 2021, authorizing the creation and opening of the American Ditek Institute.
